The number one topic I always see asked for having children on trucks is how to install a car seat safely onto a semi truck seat. We have already covered baby beginner seats to some extent now we cover the seats designed for 1 year olds and up. These are much easier to install.
Installation Problems:
Installation Problems:
- Seat Belt does not have a locking mechanism
- Truck seat is much taller than a regular car seat
- Truck seat s are only in the front of the vehicle
Because we cannot safely make use of the seat belt - we will need to use the installation method in your guide that does not make use of it. All good quality car seats should have this option.

Installation
What you will need:
- Carseat
- The clip straps that come with the car seat (1 should be already connected to the top of the car seat, the other should be connected to the side hook holes in the seat)
- A Dog leash or something similar that has as much strength rating on it as you can find.
Installation
1. Hang the strap connected to the car seat vertically down the back to the truck seat. Use the leash doubled up and tied in place with a noose not to connect the strap hook to the bar across the back of the truck seat. Make sure the leash is tight and then connect the leash hook as a secondary form of securement where posssible.
2. Connect the second strap to the hook holes in the side of the chair so that it is crossing the back of the truck seat horizontally.
3. As a final form of securement strap the trucks belt through the back of the car seat and secure in place as best as possible.
Removal
Just let the truck's belt loose, release on of the horizontal strap's hooks, remove the hook from the leash (leaving the leash in place) and remove the chair from the seat.
