Once again we have done the crazy thing of taking our little one out on the truck with us and believe me I was terrified that it was going to be as difficult as it was where we left off with Baby on Board. No sleep, highly active child, small space = cranky parents.
There a number of differences that I should clarify that are making things remarkably easier this time.
There a number of differences that I should clarify that are making things remarkably easier this time.
- I am not driving, so therefore I am rested and as a result are able to handle problems more easily.
- The little one is older. He is now walking, eating regular food (Thank the Lord!) and communicating on a very basic level. He plays on the floor well without barriers, and climbs up on the bed and chairs without the difficulties he had before while learning to walk.
- Watching the world go by only keeps the little interested for so long. Be prepared to be on the floor playing with toys with them while the vehicle is moving.
- Walking is your best friend! Do it often and wherever possible.
- A rock collection and chain link fences are also your friend.
- Patches of grass are all well and good, but it sucks when they are surrounded by road and your little one just loves vehicles...
- Utilize truck stop TV/movie rooms when possible.
- Bad weather is not fun, have plenty of inside entertainment such as cartoons, toys and bed wrestling.
- Keep the table cabinets clear of anything that you don't want your little one getting into.
- Buy your milk at truck stops otherwise you will be at Wal-mart every second or third day.
- Let them play with the wheel and buttons when the trucks not moving. It won't hurt and they will have so much fun.
- Watch out for lots of ant piles at rest areas and truck stops ants apparently just love a cozy warm diaper...
